Overview
macaddress.net is a static website. Vendor lookup runs in your browser against a copy of the IEEE OUI database. This site does not run accounts, analytics, or advertising.
The MAC address you type is not sent to a lookup API. The browser downloads a public JSON file, then matches the first six hex characters locally.
What this site does not collect
- Accounts: There is no registration and no login.
- Analytics or ads: This site does not embed Google Analytics, advertising tags, or similar trackers.
- Uploaded files: On the bulk lookup page, files are read with the browser FileReader API. File contents, names, and metadata are not uploaded.
- Third-party fonts: Typefaces are served from this site, not from Google Fonts or another font CDN.
What your browser does
Every page requests its HTML, stylesheet, scripts, icons, and fonts from this host. The lookup and bulk-lookup pages also fetch /data/oui.json (the public OUI map). Those requests do not include the MAC address you type.
After a single lookup, the address bar may update to a query such as ?mac=AABBCC. That value is the six-character OUI prefix, not the full MAC. If you reload, bookmark, or share that URL, the host can see the prefix in the request URL. Bulk lookup does not put addresses in the URL.
Copy and CSV export stay on your device (clipboard or a local download). They are not uploaded.
Theme choice is stored in localStorage under the key mac-theme (Classic, Lisa, Color, or Platinum). It stays in your browser and is not sent with later requests. Clear this site's data in your browser if you want it removed.
What the host may see
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like most HTTPS hosts, Cloudflare may log the request URL, IP address, user agent, and similar connection data. That processing is described in the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Cloudflare security features may set cookies (for example after a bot check). This site does not set cookies of its own.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. There is no application backend that stores lookups.
Children
This is a general-purpose networking tool. It is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
Updates to this policy are posted on this page with a new revision date.
